Motorola Mobility took some time at CES to demonstrate one of the cooler concepts at the show, the Motorola Telavation product and service. In case you're unfamiliar, Telavation is a product and service which enables consumers to view real-time TV content on Android tablets such as the XYBOARD around your home. Users can access TV content including channels such as NBC and Fox, right on your tablet. You can scroll up and down to through the channel guide on your tablet, select a particular channel or program, see the app communicate with your television set and immediately push the television content to your tablet. The noteworthy aspect of this is not only can you watch real-time TV on your tablet, but you also have the ability to watch one piece of programming on your tablet while someone else watches another on the main television— all at the same time. There's not much info on which cable/satellite providers will partner with MOTO on this service, but Comcast has pledged they will be testing the service out in the Denver and Nashville markets.
Currently, the product and service will be available only as a stand-alone unit. However, MOTO will implement the technology into future select set-top boxes. Check out the video below to see Rob Nazarian going hands-on with the cool product and service.
