Anger Meter Maxed: ASUS Transformer Prime Now on the Delayed List? 4

Here we go again guys (I am cringing as if I'm about to get punched in the face). Word has it that a Phandroid reader who placed a Transformer Prime pre-order from online retailer NCIX, received an email stating that the device has been delayed with no ETA. Apparently the device has Wi-Fi issues and might not arrive before Christmas. Talk about another major let down. The email received from NCIX reads like this:

“Unfortunately, we just received word that the ASUS Transformer Prime has been delayed worldwide and will most likely not be available before Christmas. ASUS feels the WiFi range does not currently meet their standards and has delayed all shipments worldwide. At the moment there is no ETA and no information on available quantities on the first batch.”

I know this sounds too horrible and coincidental to be true, but after reading corroborating comments from the Phandriod article, it seems too widespread not to be. So if you were one of the proud who placed a Transformer Prime pre-order you may want to go check your inbox to see if you have any bad news. If you do, feel free to let out your frustrations in the comments below. We will continue to keep a close eye on this one and let you know how things pan-out.

And thanks for not hitting me. Although I come bearing bad news, I am only the messenger. #epicbummer

  1. Walkorun is correct any first release of any electronic is the guinea pig for the market and then as complaints roll into the company they decide how to correct it! It is this way with all computers, gaming systems, smart phones, etc! Maybe I should just back off and wait…until the heat simmers down…

  2. Many preorders have been cancelled, and the companies are using bogus reasons! I had my order placed before Thanksgiving and got a call that the SKU number had changed and my order was cancelled and then “replaced” now I get told their is no guarantee I will get this item at all! NO matter that the company took my money weeks ago!

  3. Don’t tell me you believe this. There is no way this is true. First off the source chain is Phandroid, from a random reader, from a random retail. There is probably a could of breaks in that chain. Once a real source like Gizmodo or Engadget reports on it I will believe. Check your sources!

  4. I just have an email from BestBuy saying that my Transformer Prime 32gig is back ordered and will be filled asap. I have no dates but to dump your pre-order now would be a fools deal IMO

  5. The problem is, supply and demand. The first batch is going to have all kinds of issues. So if you can wait for them to be out for a couple months, 99% of all software and or iss
ues will be fixed, and not at your expense. Samsung nexus prime has same technology and are doing the same delaying as asus.

  6. I’m not too mad, at least their fixing the issue.I rather wait than have a faulty wifi.

Big props to Asus for their quality control.

  7. The review unit sent to Anandtech demonstrated significant WiFi issues so it is quite possibly a manufacturing issue or something similarly large scale.

    1. Hahaha, who the hell would want an iPad at this time of the championship?  I mean, the only people who still care about iStuff are fanboys and people who don’t care about functionality but prefer brand name (Construction quality non withstanding).

I don’t know… I checked an iPad 2 and the original transformer for over a month each and there’s nothing that the Android platform doesn’t do as well or better than iOS (IRIS lost before it was launched, because only blind/deaf/mute people did not realize the ability on the Android was already present with the proper application support.). On top of that, between the Transformer and the iPad the only difference is mostly screen/touch and it’s not really all that troubling.

Why on Earth would you choose the narrow-sighted clunkiness of an iPad versus the Transformer’s versatility?

  8. Come on!!! This wait is making me question my faith in Asus. Maybe I should withdraw my order & see what the reviews are….
