Froyo vs iOS 4 Real world browser test 5

Yesterday, we told you about Android 2.2 spanking iOS in websites featuring Javascript. Today it's a real world test of sites that aren't packed with Javascript to see how the two competitors stack up.

So out of the 3 of the 5 sites tested were basically a tie, with the iPhone loading Engadget faster, while the Nexus One loading NYT faster. But what would the results be if Flash were turned off? Check the 2nd video out:

Turning off flash enabled the Nexus one to load 4/5 sites faster than the iPhone (if just by a few seconds) while BBC news still was a tie between the two devices.

So there you have it, even with Flash, Froyo is just as fast, if not faster than Safari on iOS4.

  1. I am impressed with Froyo’s speed, especially with the Flash. I did notice, though, that the iPhone 4 did display something (text, mostly) first in most of the tests, meaning that it may SEEM quicker, and you can begin getting your bearings on the page or reading something sooner.
