OPPO Find N6 Review: This Is What a Foldable Should Be

There's a particular kind of frustration that comes with reviewing a smartphone you genuinely love but can't actually recommend to most of your readers. The OPPO Find N6 is, without question, one of the finest foldable smartphones I've used. Unfortunately, it's also largely unavailable in the UK, most of Europe, and the US. That context matters, and we'll come back to it. But first, let's talk about why this phone deserves your attention anyway.

Design & Build

Foldables have come a long way from the anxiety-inducing, fragile-feeling devices of a few years ago. The Find N6 makes that evolution feel complete. Folded, it sits in the pocket just like any premium flagship — the 225g weight is well distributed and never feels like a burden. Open it up, and what you have feels genuinely solid and robust, the kind of device you can use without mentally crossing your fingers every time.

The Stellar Titanium review unit is understated and handsome. Build quality can be summed up in a single word: robust. The days of treating a foldable like a delicate piece of crystal are, thankfully, behind us.

The hinge is worth a mention on its own. It's stiff — in a good way — and moves smoothly through its range. OPPO has engineered it to hold at 45, 90, and 135 degrees, which opens up genuinely useful use cases.

At 90 degrees, you can prop the phone on a surface and watch YouTube with the video on the upper half and media controls on the flat lower half. It works well enough that you'll use it regularly rather than just once to show off.

In terms of thickness, the Find N6 sits at 8.93mm folded, which is fractionally thicker than the Honor Magic V5 I've spent considerable time with. In practice, that difference is barely perceptible.

Display

The 8.12-inch inner AMOLED is excellent. Images, video, and general content look vivid and punchy, and the panel holds up well in direct sunlight thanks to 1,800 nit peak brightness. After almost two months of daily use, there's nothing to complain about here.

The crease — the perennial foldable concern — is handled about as well as ever. You have to actively tilt the display toward a light source to see it, and you can feel a faint dip under your fingertip, but in everyday use, it simply does not register. OPPO has done genuinely impressive work here.

The cover display is fully capable as a standalone experience. Using the Find N6 like a regular candybar phone, without ever opening it, works without compromise. Apps, messaging, calls — everything functions exactly as it should.

One improvement that I would like OPPO to borrow from Samsung is an anti-reflection coating on both panels. Under certain lighting conditions, reflections are more noticeable than it should be on a device at this level.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 inside the Find N6 is predictably quick. App switching is instant, multitasking is smooth, and the 120Hz refresh rate keeps everything feeling fluid. Call of Duty Mobile runs well, with accurate hit registration and no perceptible lag. After two months of heavy daily use, the phone never felt warm to the touch or showed any signs of throttling. That's a strong result for a device running this level of hardware in a slim foldable chassis.

Just out of interest, we put the Find N6 through the Geekbench 6 benchmarking tool, and this is how it fared:

Camera

The numbers behind the Find N6's camera system are impressive on paper, but what matters is what lands on the screen when you point it at something real. The test conditions here have been deliberately varied — a week of shooting in Shenzhen, the Find N6 launch event, an overcast afternoon back in the UK, and everything in between. The results are consistently strong. This isn't a good camera for a foldable. It's just good, period.

Main Sensor

The 200MP main sensor earns its headline figure. Close-up shots reveal a level of detail that goes beyond what most smartphone cameras produce — individual strands of fur on a Pomeranian, the fine stamens of small white flowers, the texture of sesame seeds on a burger bun. When you zoom in on these images, there's genuinely more information there than you'd expect. It's the kind of resolution that makes you realise how much detail previous cameras were quietly discarding.

Bokeh quality is equally impressive. A close-up of a yellow orchid branch, shot in a hotel lobby with a cluttered background, shows clean subject separation with a natural, smooth falloff. The same quality comes through in an outdoor golden-hour shot of the Find N6 launch signage — letters sharp, the background skyline dissolved into a gentle blur, warm tones rendered without tipping into oversaturation.

Hasselblad Hi-Res mode adds another step up when conditions allow. It takes a moment to process and works best when the subject is still, but the results speak for themselves. Detail and dynamic range in Hi-Res output are noticeably better than standard shooting, and once you've used it regularly, it becomes a habit rather than a novelty.

Colour accuracy is a quiet strength throughout. Food shots avoid the over-saturated, artificially warm look that some cameras apply automatically, and a restaurant spread shot at ISO12800 in warm indoor light is remarkably clean given the conditions. The processing is clearly doing real work, but it doesn't announce itself.

Ultrawide and Telephoto

The ultrawide and telephoto lenses are equally strong, and crucially, they feel like they were treated as priorities rather than afterthoughts. The 15mm ultrawide, put through its paces on a sweeping architectural shot of the Oh Bay complex in Shenzhen, shows good corner sharpness and handles bright signage against a dark sky without falling apart at the edges. That's not a given at this focal length on any phone, let alone a foldable.

The telephoto transition is largely seamless. Shooting the same subject — a large Ferris wheel on the Shenzhen waterfront — at both the wide and telephoto focal lengths, colour rendering stays consistent between lenses. That coherence matters more than it might sound. Visible colour shifts between lenses are one of the more jarring aspects of multi-camera systems, and the Find N6 avoids them.

Handling Difficult Light

The Find N6 deals well with challenging lighting conditions across the board. An overcast Shenzhen cityscape (shot from inside a hotel room) in flat grey light holds building detail across the whole frame without crushing the mid-tones or producing a muddy sky.

A selfie taken under warm yellow neon mixed with ambient indoor light exposes the face well without blowing out the background — a balancing act that many cameras fumble.

The launch event itself provided a trickier test: a busy indoor scene with a large bright window directly behind Mr Unicorn — one of China's most popular social media influencers, and not someone you'd easily miss in a crowd. The Find N6 manages to hold foreground exposure without the daylight behind completely blowing out, and background detail across a crowd of people at different distances stays readable rather than collapsing into overexposed white. It is the kind of shot where many cameras simply pick one thing to expose for and sacrifice everything else.

A UK street scene, shot back home under a cold overcast sky, shows the camera performing consistently far from Shenzhen. Brickwork detail is sharp, the cloudy sky is well controlled, and there's no obvious shift in colour character compared to the China shots. The system has a coherent look regardless of where you are or what the light is doing.

It's also worth being honest about one limitation. An in-flight shot through a heavily frosted aircraft window produces a blurry, artefact-heavy result — but that is entirely the fault of the ice-covered glass, not the camera. What's notable is that even through that obstacle, the colour rendering of the sky and clouds beyond the wing is genuinely pleasant. It tells you something about the sensor's underlying quality, even when the optics are fighting it.

Low Light

Low-light shooting is where the Find N6 makes its strongest case. A night cityscape shot from an elevated position at ISO5000 captures building detail, foreground plant texture, and a clean sky. The water feature shot is arguably the most impressive of the set — ISO12800 at just 1/8s — and the falling water curtain is visible and defined, the underwater lights glow naturally, and background trees retain readable detail. That's a difficult combination even for a dedicated camera.

The Ferris wheel series underlines the point. Shot at ISO10000 on the wide and ISO6400 on the telephoto, the coloured lights stay vibrant and distinct, the metalwork is sharp, and neither image looks scrubbed clean by aggressive noise reduction. There is some visible smoothing on flat surfaces at the extreme end of the ISO range, but it never crosses into painterly territory. The architecture shots — including a building facade against a near-noiseless night sky — show a processing pipeline with real restraint. When it needs to clean up, it does so without losing what made the scene worth shooting.

Battery

Six thousand milliamp-hours is a generous capacity for a foldable, and the Find N6 makes the most of it. In the seven days before writing this review, while using Oppo's latest foldable as my primary device, I averaged almost 8 hours of screen-on time per day. That figure will impress even regular flagship users — for a foldable, it's exceptional.

The 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging refills the battery quickly enough that speed has never been a frustration. Fifty-watt wireless charging via AIRVOOC was not tested during this review, but at that rate, it would comfortably outpace the current Qi2 standard most rivals rely on.

Software

ColorOS 16 is clean, composed, and largely out of your way. Bloat is minimal, the interface is intuitive, and the foldable-specific features are genuinely thought through rather than bolted on.

A standout is Mind Space — a private area for storing notes and memories, separate from the rest of the phone. AI Painter is another highlight: sketch something rough, and it will interpret your intent and produce something that more closely resembles what you actually had in mind. It's the kind of AI feature that earns its place in daily use.

In two months of use, not a single bug or rough edge came to mind. For a smartphone software section, that is as rare as it sounds.

Being a foldable, the Find N6 allows multiple apps to be open side by side simultaneously. It can come in really useful when multitasking, such as keeping an eye on the match whilst replying to emails, or even some impromptu photo editing. You can keep 3 apps available on the homescreen via split view, and more if you choose the floating window option. I've included the video above to show how useful it can be in everyday use.

Verdict

The OPPO Find N6 is a no-compromise foldable in every sense. It has the performance, battery life, camera, and build quality to stand toe-to-toe with the best conventional flagships — not just the best foldables. If you can buy it, it's a simple recommendation for power users, productivity seekers, and anyone curious about what a foldable can genuinely be in 2025.

Unfortunately, the caveat is significant. The Find N6 is not officially available in the UK, most of Europe, or the US. If you're based in a market where OPPO sells it, consider this a wholehearted recommendation. For everyone else, it's a reminder that the best foldable smartphone you can't have is still, frustratingly, the best foldable smartphone you can't have.
