Could your next musical hit be generated by artificial intelligence? Google seems ready to take its AI game up a notch, expanding far beyond its already impressive image generation tool. If you’ve been impressed (or baffled) by what Gemini and “Nano Banana” have already delivered, hold on to your headphones—music is next on the AI menu for Android!

From Images to Sound: Google Gemini Raises the Bar

Google caused quite a stir with the rollout of its image generation tool in 2025. The “Nano Banana” feature, quirky name and all, played a big part in making Gemini popular with the general public, as the tool not only showcased its sheer power and efficiency in creating dazzling visuals, but also wowed everyone with its ability to tweak images in real time.

But after making waves in visual creativity, Google is now set to embrace a new art form: music. It looks like a fresh music generation tool is on the verge of arriving in Gemini for all Android smartphones—a move that could once again shift our expectations of what smartphones can do.

What’s Possible Right Now?

At the moment, only owners of the Pixel 10 can use the Recorder app to generate music from a simple request. Google even has its own in-house music generation model, called Lyria, which is already directly built into Veo, its video creation tool.

Signs of a New AI-Powered Music Tool

The tech news site Android Authority has spotted hints that this music feature could soon pop up directly inside Gemini. In their deep dive into the latest changes within the Google app (notably version 17.2.51.sa.arm64), the experts uncovered a brand-new entry: TYPE_MY_STUFF_GENERATED_MUSIC. This new label sits alongside the other generative AI features already in Gemini (think images and video), strongly suggesting that music generation is about to join the party.

Right now, details are still pretty scarce—those early screenshots don’t reveal much, and it seems the feature might be limited to specific situations for the time being. But make no mistake: this is the first time we’ve seen a direct reference to a dedicated music generation tool within Gemini. And if it turns out to be as compelling as Nano Banana for images, Google’s already robust AI lineup will only get stronger.
