The OnePlus 15 is among the most anticipated phones to close the year, and it's finally here. OnePlus officially took the wraps off the phone today and it's now available worldwide, except for one caveat. Even though it's available in the USA, you can't actually buy it yet.

Following the 43-day government shutdown that froze several federal agencies, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is still working through a massive backlog of device approvals.

Without legal certification, you won't be shopping the new flagship until the issue is resolved. If you're in Canada, you're in luck as the region isn't affected.

O15 is as marvelous as earlier revealed

Launch highlights for OP15 include a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a fresh triple-chip architecture. While that sounds like three full SoCs working together, it simply means the Snapdragon chipset is paired with two smaller, dedicated companion chips.

The first is a touch-response chip that delivers 3200Hz instant sampling, while the second is an independent Wi-Fi chip that handles wireless performance separately from the main processor.

The phone also comes with a 7,300mAh Silicon NanoStack battery and support for 120W wired SUPERVOOC charging. The display is a 1.5K 165Hz LTPO screen with 1,800 nits brightness. Sitting underneath is what the company describes as the most aggressive cooling systems ever built.

The 360 Cryo-Velocity Cooling System is combined with aerospace-grade aerogel inside the display area to keep the screen from getting hot to the touch. There's a sheet of white graphite on the back that helps pull heat outward faster.

OP15’s camera system houses three 50MP sensors and upgraded computational photography, plus 4K 120fps Dolby Vision recording. OxygenOS 16 leans heavily into AI this year, with Plus Mind.

The brand says that it's a unified space working hand-in-hand with Google Gemini that should bring new writing and transcription tools. Multitasking is reportedly better across the board too.

The phone's durability is one of the strongest parts of its design. It comes with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. It can survive almost anything you’d realistically throw at it. IP66 covers protection against strong dust and powerful water jets.

IP68 confirms that you can fully submerge it in water for up to about two meters for around 30 minutes without damage. IP69 and IP69K are the most extreme levels where the device can withstand high-pressure and high-temperature water jets.

Pricing starts £849, and $1,000 in the US. There's a £100 (≈ $132) launch discount on the 512GB model and free gifts worth up to €349 (≈ $407). The phone comes in Ultra Violet, Sand Storm, and Infinite Black colors, and is identical to the model launched in China earlier, both internally and externally.

A London pop-up event is happening on November 17 for anyone who wants to see the device in person or grab launch-day freebies. Sign up on their website so that you'll be notified once sales finally open in the US.
