Looking for a standing desk that actually feels stable, not one that wobbles the moment you start typing? The Flexispot E7 Plus aims to fix exactly that. With a four-legged design, 200 kg load capacity, and whisper-quiet electric motors, it promises to combine premium build quality with rock-solid performance.

After three weeks of daily use, I can confidently say: this thing is built like a tank. But it’s not without a few quirks during setup.

At around £549.99 (with potential for discount, more on this at the end of the article) depending on your chosen tabletop size, it’s not cheap, but compared to most premium standing desks, it’s actually good value for what you get.

First impressions

The E7 Plus looks and feels serious straight out of the box. Each leg and beam has a reassuring heft, and the carbon-steel construction immediately gives off “no compromise” energy. This is not a flimsy sit-stand frame, it’s a proper workstation foundation.

The packaging is tidy and the instructions are clear, with every screw, bracket, and cable neatly labelled. Flexispot includes all the tools you’ll need, and the diagrams actually make sense (a rarity in the world of DIY furniture).

The build experience

Building the desk was, overall, a pleasant experience. The first 75%, assembling the legs, motor, and frame, was well documented and went together smoothly. But the final stage, attaching the frame to the wooden tabletop, required a bit more patience.

Unlike most flat-pack furniture, there are no pre-drilled holes for the electronics or mounting points. You’ll need to measure, mark, and centre everything manually. As someone who’s assembled more than my fair share of IKEA furniture, this was slightly intimidating at first, drilling into a pristine new desktop isn’t for the faint-hearted.

However, it makes sense. The E7 Plus supports tabletops ranging from 120 cm to 200 cm wide, so Flexispot can’t pre-drill every possible combination. Once I got over the mental hurdle, the process wasn’t too bad, just slow and methodical.

Once everything was in place, plugging in the electronics was easy. And the moment I powered it up, the desk came to life beautifully. Smooth, quiet, and perfectly level, an immediate upgrade over the manual crank desk I used before.

Everyday use

This is where the E7 Plus really earns its name. My old manual IKEA standing desk required endless winding, and over time, it developed a slight slant, not ideal for daily use. The E7 Plus, by contrast, feels industrial-grade. It’s fast, quiet, and stable, even at full standing height.

The dual-motor system lifts the desk effortlessly and almost silently. You can adjust the height with precise digital controls, and there’s no wobble whatsoever, even with two monitors, a desktop PC, and various accessories on top.

One of my favourite features is the programmable memory settings. You can save your preferred standing and sitting heights, so switching between them takes just one button press, no more guessing or fiddling with small adjustments. It genuinely encourages you to change position more often throughout the day, which is great for posture and focus.

There’s also a thoughtful child lock function that prevents accidental height changes, perfect if you have kids, pets, or even a cleaner who might brush against the control pad. Once locked, the desk won’t move until you unlock it again, which is a small but brilliant detail.

Ergonomically, it’s excellent. The range (66 cm to 131 cm) suits most users comfortably. I’m 5’10” and it’s perfect for both sitting and standing positions.

I went for the 160 x 80 cm tabletop, and it’s ideal, large enough for an iMac with plenty of space for a keyboard, notebook, and coffee mug, yet not so huge that it dominates the room. The other day, two of us worked on it side by side without feeling cramped. It’s that sturdy.

Everyday practicality

Stability is the standout feature here. Even when typing vigorously or leaning on the desk, there’s zero shake. It feels like it’s bolted to the floor.

The anti-collision system works well, automatically stopping and reversing if it hits an obstacle, handy if you store a chair or filing cabinet beneath. And the USB charging port on the control pad is a surprisingly convenient touch for keeping your phone or headphones topped up.

Cable management is easy thanks to the open under-desk design, and Flexispot’s optional accessories (like drawers or cable trays) can be added without issue.

What could be better

The only real frustration was the lack of pre-drilled holes for attaching the electronics and control unit. It’s manageable, but it turns what could be a 2-hour build into a 3-hour one if you’re taking your time.

It’s also heavy, really heavy. You’ll definitely want a second person to help flip and position the desk safely.

Other than that, there’s very little to criticise. Everything works flawlessly, and the performance feels well above its price bracket.

Bottom line

The Flexispot E7 Plus is one of the most stable and thoughtfully designed standing desks you can buy right now. It’s beautifully engineered, whisper-quiet, and strong enough to support just about anything you throw on it.

If you’re upgrading from a manual or wobbly budget standing desk, the difference is night and day. The programmable height presets, child lock, and solid construction make it both practical and premium, while the four-legged design sets it apart from typical two-post competitors.

Rating: 9/10
Rock-solid stability, smooth motorized adjustment, and smart design, slightly let down by the hands-on assembly.
