When it comes to tablets, Apple has been the undisputed champion for long. iPads stand a notch above most of the Android tablets in the market and have hardly faced any competition in terms of specs and user experience from the rival OS. Lately, though, Samsung has been upping its game.

The Korean giant's tablets over the recent years have rocked top-notch flagship features. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 series chipsets have been an integral part of them, offering great performance. However, in an upcoming flagship tablet, Samsung is likely to use a chipset from MediaTek – something it has never done in a premium device before.

The Upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ Could Use a MediaTek Processor

In all its premium flagship tablets and smartphones before, Samsung has either used Qualcomm's Snapdragon SoCs or its own Exynos chipsets. This could change with the upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 lineup, though, as Samsung could be sourcing the Tab S10+’s chip from MediaTek.

A Geekbench listing of an upcoming Samsung device has surfaced online (via Ice Universe), holding the model number “SM-X828U.” It is said to be the US model of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+, as the Tab S9+ here carries the model number SM-X818U.

According to the listing, the Galaxy Tab S10+ will be powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9300+ chipset. You shouldn't be disappointed already, because the Dimensity 9300+ is a very capable chip.

MediaTek's Dimensity 9300+ Scores Bigger Than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

The MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chip was launched just last month and debuted on Vivo’s X100s duo soon after.

If benchmark scores are to be trusted, the chip scores more than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It gets a whopping 2,305,607 score on AnTuTu, 8% more than the 8 Gen 3's 2,138,199 points. MediaTek hadn't achieved much success with its Helio line of chips for flagship devices , but the Dimensity range is putting the company back in the game.

The Dimensity 9300+ is an octa-core SoC built on TSMC's 4nm process. The CPU comprises four Cortex-X4 cores with one clocked at 3.4GHz and the other three at 2.85GHz, along with four Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. For GPU, it uses the Arm Immortalis-G720 with ray tracing support.

That said, while the Dimensity 9300+ is one of the best smartphone chipsets currently, it'll be about a year old when the Tab S10+ comes out. By that time, we could see MediaTek launch its Dimensity 9400 chip, which is said to be even more powerful.

The Galaxy Tab S10+ variant appeared on Geekbench runs Android 14 and features 12GB of RAM. This is all we know about the tablet at this moment.

Based on speculations, the Galaxy Tab S10+ could run Samsung's One UI 7 on top of Android 15 out of the box. Besides, you can expect premium specs like IP68 certification, a 12.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a 120Hz refresh rate, quad speakers, and an in-display fingerprint scanner – similar to the Tab S9+.

When Is The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Series Coming Out?

Samsung is holding the Unpacked event next month, but the Galaxy Tab S10 will unlikely see light of the day this soon. It's because while Samsung launches its flagship smartphones every year, the premium tablets usually take a sweet time of around 18 months or more to refresh.

The Galaxy Tab S9 series was just released in August last year, so it's safe to say that the S10 lineup will debut early next year. What are your thoughts on the MediaTek chipset, though? Let us know in the comments!
