It is a beautiful day down here in Atlanta. 90 degrees and clear with a nice brisk 13mph breeze along with it, but what Sunday could be complete without a little tidbit on the Droid X to go along with it? Okay, so maybe life could still go on without, but why chance it? Today I bring you a close look at some of the accessories Verizon has commissioned to be available at launch!
After a bit of searching, I found a pdf with all kinds of cool gizmo's and the prices they will be launching at, at least in the Verizon stores. No word on what you could find these for online yet. Two accessories that really stick out are the Multimedia Dock, and the Car Mount. These two accessories are almost identical to their original Motorola Droid counterparts, just with revamped looks, and some increased function to boot. The Multimedia Dock is similar in form to the old Motorola Dock, except this one has an HDMI plug integrated as well feeding out to the mini-HDMI port on the rear of the dock a charging cable is included. At $50, Motorola is touting the updated desktop app for the Droid X as well as the ability to simultaneously browse the web while running a file transfer. Only the necessities right? *sarcasm* The Car Dock looks pretty standard grade. It has the built in magnets that trigger the car dock mode when the phone is inserted, which if you haven't seen has been revamped and is HUGE! You can see a screen capture below. The vehicle dock looks pretty sturdy and will run you $40.

As always, there are a few cash cows planned with huge profit margins installed to line the wallets of the higher ups. The HDMI cable listed is one of those. Verizon will be offering a 6′ mini-HDMI to HDMI cable to allow you to plug your phone into your HDTV. The cord is placed at an exorbitant $25. You can get an identical cable that will work just as well and perform identically as the one listed on eBay for just a few bucks!

Next up is a 32GB microSD card that will max out your storage options on the Droid X at 40GB. You will be able to buy the card at launch for $100 with Verizon claiming a MSRP of $150. Although no a bad deal by any means, if you don't absolutely need the space now, I would use the combined 24 gigs of storage and wait to get the expansion until you need it. With the SSD market coming into it's prime, flash memory prices are plummeting so you could save a ton of money waiting a few months to a year to upgrade.

Next up is your standard barrage of chargers and bland universal mounts. None look especially out of the ordinary; prices look normal, quality looks lacking. But I haven't tried any of these yet in person so see for yourself first. Who know, maybe these ones break the standard mold.

If nothing else, Verizon is whole-heartedly buying into the personalization side of things. There will be cases and clips galore! Clear cases, Graphite cases, leather cases, colored silicone cases, kickstand cases, phone pouches, and clip-on holsters, they're all here, and they're all between $20 and $30. On top of that you can buy the standard grade screen protectors and anti-glare screens. Finally, Verizon will be offering a full set of NFL skins for $10 a set with shipping so you can bling your phone to your hearts content.

Overall it looks like there will be a full set of temptations to catch your eye and your wallet. I see a few things that I like, what about you? What is catching your attention? Let me know in the comments!

Great article, keep up the good work by posting excellent content. diet software
check out the 32 gb micro sd cards on ebay…just got mine a few weeks ago for $35. took a bit to get here, but it works like a charm.
Whoops, good catch! I had looked it up earlier and wasn’t paying too much attention this time around. Sorry about that, the post has been updated with a proper link. Just for clarifications sake; the Droid X has a Type-D HDMI port, the same as the Evo has. Any Type-D HDMI cable will work on the phone.
The ebay link is for mini HDMI plug. its clearly wider than the micro HDMI plug that the droid requires.
There is nothing official yet, but rumors are saying that the Droid X will closely follow the iPhone 4 which launched is July.
$100 for the microSD is actually a pretty good price. Cheapest I could find mine was $140 a week ago. I can find it right now for $133, but the retailer at this price is questionable.
I was wondering if you guys had any insides to Droid releases in canada? I haven’t seen any recently about the evo or droid x
