Last month, the Human Mobile Devices Global unveiled the Pulse series and Vibe smartphones. They're branded under HMD instead of Nokia. Initially, the company teased them alongside their upcoming classic phone with the release expected to happen this month. The HMD Vibe model is now available for purchase in the USA, and you can buy it from the official website and different major retailers.
Hurry and get HMD's budget-tiered Vibe phone
The HMD-branded Vibe phone has finally launched and appears in Charcoal Black. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 CPU powers the phone and has 6GB RAM with up to 3GB of extra virtual memory, and 128GB storage that's expandable to 512GB with MicroSD cards. There's another variant with a lower 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. The memory card slot itself follows only one nano SIM card slot on the tray. So, it may not be the best option for anyone with dual SIM cards.
The display is a decent 6.5-inch LCD screen that refreshes at 90Hz. It reaches 450 nits peak brightness, which is sufficient for indoor use. The IP52 rating means your phone will survive dust and water splashes. But don't expect 5G connectivity, as there is only 4G connectivity and support for Bluetooth 5.0.
Interestingly, it allows you to unlock it with your face but there's no fingerprint sensor. It may be a drawback if you prefer the familiarity and comfort of using your thumb and other fingers to open the device. HMD Vibe features a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. There's a 4000mAh battery that supports 10W charging via the USB Type-C port. It comes with Android 14, which is the latest Android version until Android 15 arrives in the third quarter of the year. Vibe promises two years of OS updates plus three years of security updates.
Where can you buy HMD Vibe?
HMD Vibe is currently selling for $150 dollars, and you can buy the phone from the official website. As aforementioned, it comes in two RAM and storage size variations you can choose from. There's only one color in black, but you can always buy a colorful phone case for it to spice things up.
It's unlocked and works with major US carriers and MVNOs, including T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Tracfone, Metro, Boost, and Consumer Cellular. You also have a 15-day window to return the phone and any of its accessories if you change your mind. Vibe will also be making appearances on Amazon, Best Buy, and other major online retailers. They may offer exclusive deals or promotions, as well as fast shipping and their return policies.
HMD is packaging simplicity
Flagship phones are known for having the latest features. HMD Vibe lacks most of those features, including the increasingly important 5G connectivity and artificial intelligence (AI). But it's intentional as HMD is breaking the norm and making phones people actually need.
It strips away the distractions and provides features for basic needs like calling, texting, and light browsing. If you want midrange or high-end phones, you're better off looking at Google, Samsung, and other popular smartphone brands.
