Here Are The New HMD-Branded Smartphones

Human Mobile Devices, formerly HMD Global, had us on the edge of our seats earlier this year. They teased four new phones to arrive by summer, including a classic pink flip phone. The phone previews were hidden as pixelated images on HMD's website, bringing mystery to what they had up their sleeves. Now, we know.

The Finnish smartphone company has released the Pulse series and the Vibe smartphone. All models will carry the HMD brand instead of Nokia. HMD's new phone releases were initially rumored to come out in July, along with their retro flip phone. Here's what to expect from them.

HMD’s new releases are stylish non-flagships

HMD Pulse is the base model in its series and is designed to be an affordable model. It will come in Atmos Blue, Dreamy Pink, and Meteor Black colors. A UnisocT606 CPU powers, with its memory options including 4GB to 6GB RAM with 64GB to 128GB storage space. 

The display is 6.56-inches with HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. Rear and front cameras include a 13MP dual lens and an 8MP camera with AI-supported features. The battery capacity is 5000mAh battery offering up to 59 hours of life and 10W charging. Additional features include IP52 rating, biometric face unlock, and OZO Playback, HMD’s audio enhancement technology.

HMD Pulse+

The HMD Pulse+ is the premium model, yet offers mostly the same features as the base model. It'll make appearances in Midnight Blue, Glacier Green, and Apricot Crush colors. It features the same UnisocT606 CPU and memory options of 4GB to 8GB RAM and a standard 128GB storage. 

The 6.56-inches HD+ display also offers a 90Hz refresh rate. However, brightness drops to 480 nits brightness. The Pulse variant has 600 nits. The main camera is a 50MP auto-focus dual lens, while the front camera is an 8MP fixed-focus lens. Both support Super Night and Tripod modes, FlashShot, AI HDR, and Skin tone optimization. 

HMD Pulse Pro

The HMD Pulse Pro comes in the Black Ocean color option, along with Glacier Green and Twilight Purple variants. Its major differentiating factors include the 8GB RAM and 256GB memory configuration with up to 8GB virtual RAM. The main camera is a 50MP autofocus lens, and there's a depth camera with the same pixel count. The front camera is a 50MP fixed-focus lens.

HMD Vibe

This phone stands outside the previous series with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 CPU with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It's expandable up to 512GB via MicroSD, with support for up to 4GB virtual RAM. Bright peaks at 450 nits. The camera setup includes a 13MP auto-focus and 2MP depth Dual camera on the rear and a 5MP front camera. The 4000mAh battery provides up to two days of life and 10W charging support.


Note: All phones will run Android 14, and receive two years of major operating system upgrades with three years of security updates.


Fingers crossed for HMD's new releases

Gigantii's leak confirms the existence of HMD's new phones and a quicker release date. But it's best to wait for an official announcement from the brand to confirm the launch date. In the meantime, we'll be monitoring its social channels and official website.
