Motorola was one of the pioneers of the foldable game, starting back then with a clamshell foldable and not straying an inch away from this specific niche ever since. It's a good move since there might be way too much competition in the book-style space to break in effectively.
The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, also known as the Motorola Razr+ (2024), is likely coming out next month, and while the leaks have been pouring out, this might be the only leak that you need, as it essentially exposes everything that there is to know about the upcoming smartphone, including photos.
The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra Retains The Same Design (Mostly) But Still Looks Good
The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is the next “big” clamshell foldable from the Lenovo-owned company. It doesn't bring a bigger foldable screen compared to the non-Ultra model (at least not last year), despite being called the Motorola Razr+ (2024) in North American markets, but it brings a bigger cover display.
This clamshell foldable is expected to launch soon, and prior to that, we've been inundated with leaks on the device, each one adding a bit more information than the last. This time around, we've got what seems to be the entire spec sheet as well as pictures of the smartphone thanks to WinFuture. Let's focus on how it looks first.
The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra retains what is mostly the same design as last year's model, with a few changes. The foldable display is the same size and still has the selfie camera cutout. On the outside, the cover display is the same size and retains the dual camera and flash cutouts. When fully open though, the horizontal strip where the top and bottom halves of the phone meet is now slimmer, and the top corner is now a black bezel.
The phone will be available in peach, purple, and green colorways, though there's no certainty on the official names for these colors yet.
What Are The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra's Specs Going To Be Like?
The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is going to come with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 inside, which is as close as you can get to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 without being that. It will also come with 512 GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, though I don't think that'll be the starting configuration.
Inside will be a 6.9-inch FHD+ pOLED unit with a maximum refresh rate of 165 Hz. Not only does the refresh rate get a bump, but apparently the cover display will increase to a 4-inch OLED module, potentially through smaller bezels.
The dual cameras now get a substantial boost to 50MP each, with one being the primary sensor and the second being the ultra-wide. The selfie camera is expected to be a 12MP camera. There'll be Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and 5G onboard. The battery and charging will both get slight boosts to 4,000 mAh and 45W respectively.
The phone is expected to cost $999 in the United States, but interested buyers in Europe will need to pay a bit more comparatively, at €1099. The phone is expected to launch at some point next month.
