MediaTek's first flagship processor of the year is expected to be the Dimensity 9300+, a sequel to the most powerful chip that it currently has in its arsenal. This chip is going to give flagships released for most of the rest of the year a new top-shelf option to use if they prefer MediaTek to Qualcomm.
The best part is, thanks to a new leak, we now know a lot more about the Dimensity 9300+ and its core configuration as well as how well it will perform on benchmarks, so let's get into the good stuff.
The Dimensity 9300+ Has A Cortex-X4 Core That Can Hit 3.4 GHz
The MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ is the Taiwanese company's next flagship chip, and well ahead of its launch, we already know that it is expected to be the heart of the upcoming Vivo X100s devices as well as the Redmi K70 Ultra. As tends to happen prior to smartphone releases, the Vivo X100s has shown up on AnTuTu and Geekbench, spotted by Han Boxiao on Weibo, giving us not only a glimpse into the chip it is running on but also insight into this chip's configuration and performance.
The Geekbench listing for the device shows us that the Dimensity 9300+ will be an octa-core processor with a unique configuration. There will be four Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores. The Cortex-A720 cores will all be clocked at 2.0 GHz like they were in the SoC's predecessor, but the big cores will change up a bit. There'll be one primary Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.4 GHz, which is up from the maximum of 3.25 GHz in the regular 9300. The other three X4 cores will run at 2.85 GHz.
The Dimensity 9300+ will also come running on the same GPU, which is the Arm Immortalis-G720 MP12. As a “plus” model of an existing chip, this only gets a minor spec bump, which isn't unexpected. For a more drastic leap in figures, it'll be best to wait until the end of the year for the release of the Dimensity 9400.
How Did The Dimensity 9300+ Perform On Its Benchmarks?
If you're looking for the most power that you can currently get from a smartphone chip, the Dimensity 9300+ is theoretically the best bet in the market at the moment. Using AnTuTu, the Vivo X100s scored a whopping 2,305,607 points, which isn't a minuscule jump from the top score of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at 2,138,119. That's about an 8% boost in performance.
On Geekbench, the same phone scored 2,313 and 7,743 in single-core and multi-core performance respectively. Again, this is better than the top scores of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which were 2,169 and 6,773 for single-core and mult-core respectively. The Dimensity 9300+ is very clearly no slouch.

This puts MediaTek in a very uniquely advantageous position. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 isn't launching anytime soon, and Qualcomm also seems to have zero plans to launch a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 3 chip this year. That means that MediaTek might be the best chip that manufacturers can get until the end of the year. Of course, there's more to just numbers, like thermal management and efficiency, but for OEMs looking for pure power, the 9300+ is very clearly the way to go.
