In case you aren't aware, Beeper is an app that serves as a hub for the many different messaging apps that you might use in daily life. Instead of needing to open Slack, Instagram, WhatsApp, and so on, separately, you can simply access all of them from your Beeper Android app.
However, the developers were not the most pleased with how the previous app was built since it was very hard for them to work on it and make it better. So, they took the hard road, demolished the old app, and built a new one from scratch. And it is so much better. Let's talk about it.
Beeper's New Android App Is A Complete Rewrite, And So Much Faster
It's not that the old Beeper app was bad; it did what it said it would on the box, but it had a few hiccups in its execution, especially related to its speed. The old Beeper app would store messages in the cloud, so it wasn't the fastest implementation.
Fortunately, the company has been very serious about improving its product, so it made the hard choice and built a new Android application from scratch instead of trying to optimize the old one. The new app is still in beta but you can already see the improvements. For instance, it now stores chats on the device, so opening and sending new messages is instant. You can also search your entire message history and you don't need to have a computer around to set things up anymore; everything is done straight from the app.
The user interface has also been revised from the ground up, along with new themes. It is even optimized for use on foldable devices and tablets, so it is generally a much more pleasing experience using the new application. Plus, it supports about 15 chat networks now, including SMS and RCS on Android, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Discord, Telegram, Instagram, Twitter, Slack, and more.
However, keep in mind that before you can give the beta a run, you'll need a Beeper account, and to get one of those, you'll need an invite from someone who already has the application, or you'll have to be patient and join the waitlist.
Beeper Was The App That Brought iMessage To Android Once
iMessage is part of Apple's massive walled garden, and it is one of the things that Apple users are quick to pull out of their bag of tricks to set themselves apart from the Android folk. Green bubbles, blue bubbles, and all that jazz.
Well, with the Beeper Mini app, you were able to break down the walls of that garden and use iMessage on Android. Unfortunately, Beeper had to contend with several attempts from Apple to crush this workaround, and they finally made their last attempt late last year, which needed you to go as far as having a jailbroken iPhone and a computer running Mac or Linux.
However, the company has finally taken down official support for iMessage on the Beeper applications, so if you want to show your iPhone friends that you're one of them that badly, you might simply need to give your money to Apple, especially after the EU decided iMessage doesn't need to be on other phones.
