Barely six weeks after the launch of the Galaxy S24 series in mid-January, we are already turning our attention toward ‘The Next Big Thing.' I know you've barely scratched the surface of what your fancy new smartphone can do, but Samsung is gearing up to hold another Galaxy Unpacked event, with early July being penciled in as the likely time.
It's When?
According to SamMobile, Samsung will hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event in early July, with devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and perhaps even the Galaxy Ring being unveiled. In all fairness, Samsung tends to move up its Galaxy Unpacked events by a week or two each year, so the timing given by SamMobile isn't exactly a surprise.
Samsung doesn't usually tweak the formula too much, again giving this report further credibility. The smartphone brand has many moving parts to synchronize in development, parts sourcing, and marketing, so it's almost certain that it will be no earlier than the first couple of weeks in July.
But Why?
Well, the 2024 Summer Olympics is scheduled to kick off on July 26, which is something that Samsung won't want to clash with, especially since it is already one of the main sponsors of the competition and will likely equip the participants with a Galaxy Phone and Galaxy Ring to commemorate their presence.
Plus, Samsung likes to launch its new products a week or two earlier than its predecessor. It's long been the company's strategy, and it doesn't seem like it will change anytime soon.
What Devices Will Be Announced?
Apart from the definite unveiling of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6 and the probable debut of the Galaxy Ring, there's some talk that Samsung might also take the wraps off of the Galaxy Watch 7 series. However, there is little to substantiate this now. Now, the chatter suggests that Samsung might show off a pair of Fold devices with one carrying the Ultra moniker. This Galaxy Z Fold 6 may also pack a storage slot for the S Pen, which Fold users have requested for quite a while.
We'd prefer a more affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 to be announced, but this doesn't appear on the cards. We believe a fold-like device with mid-range specs under the $999 threshold would bring the form factor to the masses. This doesn't appear to be Samsung's viewpoint, though, as the rumored Ultra alludes to. Samsung's stance seems to be that you'll need to buy the previous model if you want a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold.
Is That All?
There's scant information about the Galaxy Tab S10 series right now, and it's far too soon for another batch of Galaxy Book laptops. We might see an AR/VR device teased, but it's unlikely. Samsung might also announce something AI-related as each tech company scrambles to launch a product that will give them the edge in that department. Again, this is all presumption on our part, so ensure you have a healthy pinch of salt while reading this.
