Smartphone manufacturers attempt to get their software properly optimized before their devices launch, but once they get into consumers' hands, many issues tend to be exposed. For instance, with the Galaxy S24, most notably the display and camera performance.
We've been anticipating the first update since the Galaxy S24 series launched, and it has finally started rolling out. We've got several specifics on how exactly this update will improve the device's camera performance.
There's A Focus On Camera Tweaks
The Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup was announced just about a month ago, with minor changes to the camera setup on paper and bigger changes seen for the Ultra model. However, once pre-orders started shipping and users started to take pictures with the phones, there was a lot of feedback.
Fortunately, for fresh devices from one of the most popular smartphone lineups, Samsung took the feedback seriously and implemented fixes for many of the most pressing complaints. Thanks to a Samsung Korea forum post, we have more insight into the exact improvements, though many specifically target the S24 Ultra.

General Camera Fixes

- The brightness is adjusted for higher image quality when taking pictures with a strong backlight in high-pixel mode.
- Food Mode takes pictures with more vibrant color data.
- Saturation and white balance when shooting in Night Mode have been improved so that colors come out better.
- The image quality is vastly improved when using the Expert RAW app and zooming into photos.
S24 Ultra Camera Fixes
The S24 Ultra might be the favorite child, but it is also the only one with very different cameras from the others, so it comes with its own personal camera upgrades:

What Else Can We Expect From The First Update?
The S24 camera experience before and after the first update should be a noticeable distance apart from each other, but that's not the only thing that should be expected with this update. What else might be coming to your S24?
Samsung has danced back and forth on how they planned to handle the washed-out colors that people complained of on these new devices. Even though the company claimed the new colors were an intentional choice, the new update will come with a “Vividness” option that lets you push your colors up to the vivid saturation that the smartphone company is known for.
There will also be some refinements to the Galaxy AI features, particularly regarding the translation features. The update may also come with a few security fixes.
