Samsung's mobile chief, T.M. Roh, recently disclosed the company's plans for Galaxy AI, the innovative artificial intelligence system introduced with the Galaxy S24 series. The key revelation is that Galaxy AI features, initially provided for free, will maintain this status only until 2025.
Galaxy AI Beyond 2025
This confirmation came during the launch of the Galaxy S24 series a few weeks ago when Roh addressed the media via ET Telecom. He emphasized the substantial resources invested in developing Galaxy AI and affirmed that customers would continue to enjoy its features without charge for the next few years.
However, the looming question is what will happen to Galaxy AI after the complimentary period expires in 2025. Then there could also be customers who wish for even more powerful AI capabilities and even pay for them. So, in the future decision-making, we will take all these factors into consideration.”
Plans for 2024
Despite the ambiguity surrounding the post-2025 strategy, Roh at the very least painted an optimistic picture for Galaxy AI's immediate future. Samsung aims to roll out the technology to over 100 million devices globally this year.
In fact, the company has confirmed that older Galaxy flagships, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series, will receive Galaxy AI features within the first half of 2024.
