It's been a while since it was announced that Mobvoi was developing the TicWatch Pro 5 smartwatch that would be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5 chipset and run on the unified Wear OS 3.0 platform. But, it seems that progress is being made, at least if you take the recent passing through of the FCC by a new Mobvoi wearable which packs in a hefty 611mAh battery.
Thanks to the opinionated folks over at Droid Life, we have info to share about the new wearable from Mobvoi which apparently rocks the model number WH12088. The FCC listing shows the presence of the connectivity options that you would expect, with the most interesting factoid being the size of that battery. At 611mAh, it's more than twice the size of Google's Pixel Watch which has a rather meager 294mAh unit. It's even a litter larger than the battery found on Samsung's Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
Other than that, the listing shows that the smartwatch is 50.1mm wide and that it runs on Wear OS version RMDB.220901.00A. With MWC 2023 coming up next week, Mobvoi may take the opportunity to hold an official launch for the new Wear OS smartwatch. We don't know why it's taken so long for a Snapdragon W5-powered Wear OS smartwatch to come to market but hopefully, the wait will soon be over.
