Galaxy Watch 4

We've seen the 360-degree images and read the leaked specs list for Samsung's Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, now it's time for the Watch 4 to shine ahead of the Unpacked event on August 11th as a new report suggests it will manage up to seven days of usage on a single charge. Yup, you read that correctly, and we are talking about a smartwatch running on Google's (and Samsung's) Wear OS platform.

If someone had suggested that a Wear OS smartwatch was capable of lasting out a whole week on a single charge before the unified platform was announced during Google I/O in May we would have almost certainly called them crazy. But, with the Galaxy Watch 4 range using Samsung's 5nm Exynos W920 chipset combined with the new Wear OS 3.0, who are we to mock? Especially when the report comes via WinFuture, a reliable source of so much information over the years.

If the seven days' worth of battery life is accurate, that would mean that Samsung managed that on a battery unit with 361mAh capacity for the larger models, which is ludicrous when the TicWatch Pro 3 with its fancy Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor has a 577mAh unit.

Besides the claim of seven day's worth of battery life, WinFuture also posted the following tidbits about Samsung's Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic:

  • Galaxy Watch 4 (40mm, 44mm)
  • Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (42mm, 46mm)
  • Displays: 1.19″ and 1.36″ (450×450, AMOLED)
  • OS: Wear OS 3, One UI Watch 3.5
  • Processor: Exynos W920
  • Memory: 1.5GB RAM
  • Storage: 16GB storage
  • Connectivity: WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC
  • Battery: 247mAh, 361mAh
  • Health: Heart rate, SpO2, Sleep
  • Durability: 5ATM, IP68, MIL-STD-810G
  • Size: 41.5 x 41.5 x 11.2mm, 45.5 x 45.5 x 11mm

Is it too early to say that the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are the saviors of the Wear OS platform?
