Amazon may have killed off the Kindle Owners Lending Library recently but the retailing giant has launched a new rewards scheme called the Kindle Challenge Award System. The Kindle Challenge program lets readers earn badges by completing quests with the chance of getting $5 in eBook credit.
To get the $5 eBook credit, Kindle users will need to earn at least four diamond badges before January 31st, after which the credit will be put on their account by February 15th and automatically applied to the next eBook purchase.
Just to be clear, any books that you've read that were uploaded from other means won't count towards the challenge. eBooks will need to be purchased or borrowed from Amazon via the storefront or from Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading and have been read on a Kindle, the Kindle app, or the Kindle Cloud Reader in order to count towards the badges.
Sounds good? Well, this is where we give you the bad news that the Kindle Program is being operated on an invite-only basis right now. If Amazon hasn't sent you an email inviting you to sign up for the reading challenge you might want to log in to your Kindle profile to check if there's an option to sign up.
