December 28th may be cutting it close but it is still in 2020 so Xiaomi is set to keep its promise of launching the first Snapdragon 888-powered smartphone before the end of the year. The phone in question is the Mi 11, and it’s set to be unveiled in China in less than a week’s time.
The date was confirmed by Xiaomi in a Weibo post, with the event kicking off at 6:30 AM ET. There’s no word on when we can expect the Mi 11 series to launch outside of China as yet. We are expecting to see the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro handsets announced during the event, although other than the presence of Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 888 chipset there isn’t a ton of details known about the series other than the presence of 120Hz displays, 55W charging, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
With the launch date less than a week away it’s likely that there will be a ton of leaks over the next few days.
