It’s been almost exactly a year since the REDMAGIC 11 Pro launched, and it was tagged as the first phone with active liquid cooling. It stood out for its transparent back, where you could watch coolant flow through a ring as you used it.
The legacy continues with the REDMAGIC 12 Pro+, whose full design the company has now revealed ahead of its China launch on October 15. The gaming phone gets a more visible liquid cooling system, three colors, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip.
REDMAGIC wants to be fully transparent with you, this time around
REDMAGIC confirmed the design of its next phone through new teaser images. This year’s REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ has a more compact look. The cameras sit in a square block at the top left, with the REDMAGIC logo in a lit window beside them.

The previous 11 Pro+ stacked them in a tall column down the left side instead. The cooling ring is now a continuous blue loop around a brushed metal disc, with no accent lines or segments breaking it up. A second blue cooling strip runs beside the camera block, so the liquid cooling now reaches the top of the phone too.
The previous model’s ring was split into blue and white segments with accent lines, and it had a bar near the bottom instead of a second strip near the camera. The Snapdragon logo is on a small tile under the cameras, and the REDMAGIC wordmark runs down the left edge.

Every color option is transparent, and that includes Silver Wing, Dark Night, and Ice Blue. The 11 Pro+ also came in a plain, non-transparent version. There’s no word on pricing yet. But for reference, the 11 Pro+ cost CNY 5,699 (about $800) for its base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The transparent versions started at CNY 6,499 (about $910), and the 24GB/1TB model reached CNY 7,699 (about $1,080). It’s hard to predict the price of the 12 Pro+ because few specs have leaked so far.

Rising memory prices across the industry could push it higher, especially because every model this year uses a transparent finish and, quite possibly, a customizable RGB lighting system.
Customizable RGB lighting might be on the way
You might be able to win a REDMAGIC CPU cooler in a repost-and-comment giveaway. REDMAGIC took to its official Weibo account and shared a new teaser for the 12 Pro+. To enter, you repost the announcement and leave a comment.
It doesn’t list entry rules beyond that, and since it runs on Weibo, it’s likely limited to users in China. The post was also sent from the unreleased phone in the Deuterium Transparent finish, according to the device tag under REDMAGIC’s name.
The phone in the teaser looks like the Dark Night version, but REDMAGIC hasn’t confirmed which finish that is. Deuterium itself is a stable form of hydrogen whose nucleus has one proton and one neutron, unlike ordinary hydrogen, which has just a proton. It’s sometimes called “heavy hydrogen,” and it’s the “heavy” in heavy water.
REDMAGIC probably chose it as a science-flavored marketing name, since it fits a transparent, high-tech finish. Again, it could just be a translation error that doesn't mean anything special.

More importantly, the brand called the phone “the industry’s first RGB water-cooled phone.” Earlier teasers and official images only showed the cooling ring glowing blue, but the new image shows glowing red on the left and blue on the right, which suggests the ring can now shift colors.
REDMAGIC hasn’t said whether you can customize the lighting, sync it to games, or use it for notifications yet. The launch event is set for October 15 at 2:30 PM China time.
