Windows 7 was a very solid OS from Microsoft, and it's one that's still hanging on even after several new versions have replaced it and Microsoft has officially dropped support for it.

I can't say I blame people, though. I used to actually be able to play Fallout 3 on Windows 7, unlike Windows 10.

But anyway, Google has taken notice of this, and they're not cutting off Chrome users just yet.

Chrome gets extended Windows 7 support

Originally Google Chrome was supposed to be discontinued for Windows 7 in the middle of 2021, giving everyone a timeframe of about another six or so months from now. But due to COVID (and likely still decent Windows 7 numbers) Google won't be yanking support quite so quickly.

The new date for ended support will be January 15, 2022, giving users all of 2021 to continue using Windows 7 with their favorite web browser.

A major factor in this was business customers who were planning to migrate to Windows 10 this year, but COVID threw a wrench in those plans and delayed the process, which affects about 22% of IT pros in the survey.

Eventually, though, this will come to an end, so keep that in mind if you're still hanging on to old software and especially if you're not an enterprise customer.
