The new Chromecast with Google TV has just been unveiled, adding the functionality of what used to be known as Android TV and the addition of a remote control so you don't need a phone to control your viewing experience. Although you can still cast from your handset if you want to. Priced at $49 in the US, the Chromecast with Google TV is already on sale from the Google Store, and a variety of retailers.

Thanks to the presence of the all-new Google TV experience, you'll have access to more than 6,500 apps, including the likes of Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, and a whole lot more.

Plugging into the HDMI slot on your TV, the Chromecast with Google TV supports 4K HDR picture quality at 60fps, and Dolby Vision is also present which gives you enhanced color, contrast, brightness, and detail on your TV. Unlike previous Chromecasts, there is a USB-C charging port, and a full Google TV UI present.

You can control your viewing experience by issuing voice commands to the remote which uses the power of Google Assistant to convey your wishes.

Available in Snow (white-ish), Sunrise (coral pink-ish) and Sky (Sky blue-ish) colors, you can snag the Chromecast with Google TV for $49 in the US or $89 with six months of basic Netflix bundled in. Pre-orders for the device are live in the UK at £59 and £89 for the same Netflix bundle, with shipping due to begun from October 15th.
