Well, not quite, at least not with Belkin's 10W Boost Up Charge Wireless Stand is concerned with its ability to hold your smartphone in portrait or landscape while still charging the phone. Design
With a round dish that incorporates a stand that behaves as a shelf for holding a smartphone in landscape mode, the Belkin Boost Up Charging Stand offers a different aesthetic to most other wireless charging stands. The dish contains dual wireless charging coils positioned so that whether you place the phone in portrait or landscape mode, it receives a charge from the stand. We had the black model to review which brings a simple if functional look, it's not ugly by any means, it just lets your phone take center stage.
It's a nifty design that proves useful, not just for charging purposes but for handsfree viewing of content as well, whether on the desk on on the bedside table, all the while receiving a charge, wirelessly.
There are two LED lights that show when the phone is receiving a charge, the bottom LED when the phone is in landscape mode, and the right-hand side LED when charging the phone in portrait orientation. Neither LED lights are terribly bright, and shouldn't keep you awake at night if you are sensitive to light pollution.
Performance
Offering both 7.5W and 10W output, the charging stand is compatible with Android and iPhones that have wireless charging built-in with Qi-certification. iPhones will charge at 7.5W and Android phones at 10W, so long as their hardware supports it. It charges as it should, even with a case of around 3mm thickness such as the one found in the retail box of the OnePlus 8 Pro.
In the box, you get the charging stand and a wall charger with a 1.5m cable attached that has a proprietary charging attachment, not MicroUSB or USB-C, which is unfortunate.
Coming in at $69/£39.99 the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Stand isn't exactly cheap, but it does offer something that most of its competitors don't, the ability to charge your phone wirelessly whether its place in portrait or landscape orientation.
Worth Buying?
If it's a bog-standard 10W wireless charging stand that you need, then no, you'll find better value from Anker or Aukey. But, if its a versatile wireless charging stand that brings portrait and landscape charging, that is where the Boost Up Wireless Charging Stand stands out from the rest and where it's worth the extra cost.
