The Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to launch in August this year alongside the Galaxy Note 20, assuming the current COVID-19 situation doesn't keep the train off its tracks. With a launch that close, naturally it's time for rumors to pick up and detail everything you could be curious about.

Today we'll dig into some color options for the Galaxy Fold 2.

The color options for the Galaxy Fold 2 will reportedly be a little bland at release, with Samsung selling the phone in black and brown. The original Galaxy Fold is currently offered in some other colors, and those may join the lineup at a later point, but there's no guarantee.

Offering a phone in several colors can be a good thing, especially if the phone is popular and shipping tons of units. Apple's iPhone 11, for example, comes in several variants and it's one of the coolest selling points of the phone. But conversely, the Galaxy Fold 2, like its predecessor, won't sell quite as many units as a new iPhone. It's a niche device, and making multiple models can slow down the supply chain and increase pricing for a phone that really needs to sell well.

On the bright side (and counter to what I just said), it seems like Samsung might be offering the phone in a smaller storage variant this time around to help keep the costs in check. The Galaxy Fold 2 will supposedly start in a 256GB version, with the 512GB model being a step up instead of the default choice. Splitting models here could have the opposite effect, but not as many people go for the huge storage capacities. Having a cheaper phone makes more sense.

Either way, we'll find out more in August. Keep your eyes peeled.
