We weren't sure if ASUS was committed to producing a successor to the ROG Phone II but thanks to the announcement of a partnership between Google Stadia and ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has revealed that there will be a ROG Phone III. Besides that little tidbit, the announcement reveals that the new gaming phone will launch with Google Stadia pre-installed.
The partnership will run until 2021 and ASUS says that the Stadia app will be pre-installed on to every next-gen ROG Phone sold in participating locations which includes the following countries:
- Belgium
- Canada
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Ireland
- Italy
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Spain
- Sweden
- United Kingdom
- United States
The inclusion of the Stadia app on the next-gen ROG Phone means that users will be able to play the latest games on their handsets without needing to download tons of data, although they will still need to purchase the game. You can expect a gaming experience that includes 4K streaming at 6-fps, HDR quality images, and support for 5.1 channel surround sound.
Details on what hardware the next ROG Phone will feature is unknow for now although it will almost certainly be powered by the Snapdragon 865 (or updated derivative) that was launched back in December. You can also expect to see a 120Hz display, tons of RAM and storage, a battery with at least 6,000mAh capacity, and speedy charging technology.
