Microsoft merges all of their mobile productivity apps into one Office hub 4

Microsoft has announced that they'll be taking their existing Word, Excel, and Powerpoint applications on Android and iOS and merging them into a single Office app. Fortunately there's no loss of functionality with this change, but it should make things a little more fluid on your phone and take up less space, too.

Alongside this announcement is a brand new logo for Office that uses Microsoft's new Fluent Design. It looks more in line with the logos for Office apps that have been around for a while now, and meshes in better with the rest of the Microsoft ecosystem.

This change won't happen overnight, although it is available in preview for Android and iOS devices right now. You can sign up for it if you want to test it out early and potentially free up some space on your phone.

The app does go a bit beyond that, though, and it has a few new features like being able to scan text and immediately turn it into a document. It seems like Microsoft is going to use this as a base to build out from here, too.
