Samsung looks to be improving their update game with leaks suggesting the company's 2019 flagships will see Android 10 Betas within a month, and stable releases soon after.
Samsung first ran their own Android beta program last year with their Galaxy S9 and S9+ receiving the Android Pie-based One UI in November before having the stable update roll just under two months later, in the final days of 2018, with their other phones all following a similar but delayed rollout.
Most were surprised and delighted by Samsung's fairly timely update to Android Pie of only a few months when previous years have seen them take nearly a full year, and we all hoped that they could improve even further in future given their Pie update also included the visual redesign of One UI versus their old and unliked Samsung Experience.
Well I'm happy to report that, according to leaks, Samsung is indeed improving their update game with this year's Android 10 as they plan to launch the new beta for the S10 and Note 10 series together in early October, a month earlier than last year.
Presumably, this will also result in Samsung flagship users receiving a stable Android 10 update in November.
It's fantastic to see the world's largest smartphone manufacturer finally improving their software support performance after a decade of indifference, and at this point I must assume that the driving factor behind the last two years of swifter updates from most manufacturers is indeed indicative of the success of Google's ‘Project Treble'; the initiative of separating UI and UX from the underlying operating system to make updates easier.
Awesome.
