Subscription game services are all the rage lately. The concept goes all the way back to Gamefly with physical discs, but it's changed more recently to accommodate digital delivery. PlayStation Now was the first major entry into the space, but was plagued with connection issues since many users didn't have internet fast enough to handle streaming everything.
Microsoft followed up with Xbox Gamepass, a similar service that allowed full downloads. There are also numerous other services, like Humble Bundle's Trove of subscription games, and Apple has their own Apple Arcade subscription lined up for later this year. Google's the odd one out, but that might change in a few months.
A new leak concerning Google Play Pass has cropped up, suggesting that Google will also be getting into the game of subscription services for mobile gaming. This service will run $4.99 per month and gives you the ability to play a ton of games with no ads or in-app purchases, all included in that umbrella subscription. If a game has in-app purchases, they'll all be unlocked by default. A family plan has also been rumored, but you can bet that pricing will be a bit higher.
Unlike Apple Arcade, Google just seems to be taking the approach of bundling together existing games on the Play Store into this subscription. Apple is working to bring new titles to their service and run everything across iOS and tvOS, which is slightly different. But with Google's aggressive pricing and the sheer number of games on the Play Store, that might make a very compelling alternative to whatever Apple's cooking up.

Disabling in-app purchases might sound good but I think this is actually a bad idea. There are a few game mechanics where you get creditscurrency to spend on in-app stores. A prime example is getting diamonds (what ever currency the devs decides to use) for completing quest which you can use for in-app purchases. Will have to see how they actually do this.
