Nokia has grown a broad portfolio of phones since their Android revival in 2017, however their newly-leaked device is their least-recognisable design yet as it resembles the Lenovo-Moto motif.

Through all their trials and tribulations of the last decade, Nokia has maintained their own unique design language of typically relatively large, square bezels and minimalist camera bumps if not flush camera sensors.

But the latest leaks of an upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered Nokia device paint an evolving Nokia design language, with a ‘pimple' notch, noticeable chin, and circular camera bump, much like Lenovo-Moto's current design motif, and the leaked Huawei Mate 30.

In truth, the design tweaks do not really diverge much from Nokia's existing language, but they are an interesting development; more interesting, however, is the fact that this phone appears to sport two camera sensors and an odd third opening which could perhaps be a TOF sensor for depth perception, and of course the flash.

The primary of those sensors is a confirmed 48MP sensor – almost certainly Sony's flagship IMX586 – backed up by an undisclosed ~120deg. ultrawide, as evident in the camera app including a ‘0.6x' zoom mode, while no ‘telephoto' zoom lens is present as the app does not include a 2x zoom option; I always love seeing OEMs opting for ultrawide lenses over near-useless zoom lenses on their phones, and that remains true for this Nokia device.

The device also sports a rear fingerprint scanner, unlike Nokia's most recent flagship Nokia 9 Pureview and its under-display reader, and that fact combined with the overall design lead me to believe this device may be the successor to the excellent Nokia 8.1/X7 which itself succeeded the Nokia 7 Plus, rather than a new flagship from the Finnish company.

To an extent, I could also see this device being a 7-class or even 6-class phone given the large chin and somewhat chunky other bezels, but I still think an 8-class device is more likely given the multi-camera system being highlighted with the circle in a way we've not yet seen from Nokia.

The leaks also mention that the device does include a 3.5mm headphone jack, dedicated Google Assistant button, and that it runs Android Pie – a given since even Nokia's cheapest phones now run Pie.

Given how complete this device appears, I would guess we (or the Chinese market at least) will be seeing this device fairly soon – stay tuned here on Talk Android to find out when we do!
