In its day, the SwiftKey keyboard app was one of the first apps installed on new Android smartphones because it was so much better than the stock offering, and it still has a faithful following years later. Now the keyboard app is in the news because it appears to have run afoul of Google' new security policies which may result in it losing access to Gmail on July 15th.
SwiftKey users have been informed via email that the app no longer complies with Google's data policy requirements. Swiftkey asks users to grant wide-range of permissions when first installed, which goes against Google's new policy of apps only asking for permissions when and if they need them, not ‘just in case'.
It's unclear what steps SwiftKey is taking to remedy the situation, but you would have to believe that the company will make the necessary changes so as to adhere to Google's data policy requirements going forward.
If SwiftKey somehow doesn't make the cut off date of July 15, are you planning on moving over to Google's Gboard app? Let us know in the comments below.

I had been a long user of Swift Key. In-fact I got it at the time when it was up for sale. Sad to see it in this state.
Same here, I don’t allow SwiftKey to read my Gmail. If only SwiftKey had access to Bitmoji, it would be the perfect keyboard. I don’t like Gboard at all.
Not a big deal. I don’t allow Swiftkey to read my Gmail or text messages anyways. Works just fine for me.
