OnePlus digs at Apple after OnePlus 6 is named India's #1 premium smartphone 4

OnePlus typically does extremely well in more competitive and emerging markets, and they know it. After recently being announced as India's #1 premium smartphone, the company took to social media to put Apple on blast about it.

As you can see in the image above, OnePlus's social media team took a clear dig at Apple, and followed it up with a snarky “Disclaimer: OnePlus phones do not support Siri as a feature. Try Google Assistant.”

Insults aside, this is actually a pretty big deal for OnePlus, and also seems to show that the rising price of OnePlus phones that I always complain about isn't really hurting the company. They're still popular, they're still moving units, and they're even topping the charts in certain markets. Kudos, OnePlus.

If you're interested in the numbers breakdown for India's premium smartphones, Samsung technically took the most market share at 34% compared to OnePlus's 33%, but the OnePlus 6 was the best selling device followed by the OnePlus 6T. Samsung's Galaxy S9+ came in third, and the slew of other devices that Samsung offers helped to build up that total market number. Apple still did okay in India, honestly, chomping up 23% of the premium market and leaving 10% to every other manufacturer, but that number has been slipping year-over-year for the iPhone maker.

Apple is set to start production of phones in India soon, so it'll be interesting to see if OnePlus can hold onto this lead once Apple can afford to cut prices of their iPhones in India.
