Expect Android Pie for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note in January 2019 4

Samsung's been on a roll with software lately, so even if you're not terribly excited about a phone that can bend itself in half, you might still have something to look forward to.

In addition to showing off One UI, Samsung made sure to note that the Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and Galaxy Note 9 will be receiving their Android Pie update, including that brand new interface, by the end of January 2019. That's only a few months away.

To follow up on that, they'll be running an Android Pie beta for the Galaxy S9 later this month, which is the same beta update of One UI that they mentioned earlier. That brings a radical new design language to the phone, plus a system-wide dark mode and some other cool tricks. It should also give us an early look at the Galaxy S10's software before it becomes widely available.

And, as always, these updates are subject to carrier approval and country availability. It'll hit unlocked devices first with the US unlocked model probably seeing some kind of delay, and then your Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile models will have to go through the grinder of getting network approval. Same old story, but at least we know the update is in the works.
