Lenovo is no stranger to Chromebooks, so it's completely appropriate that they would try and shake things up with one of the sleekest, nicest looking Chromebook laptops that we've ever seen. The device keeps Lenovo's signature Yoga branding and features, but it's all-in on Chrome OS and high-end performance.
While most Chromebooks stick with lower-end processors and hardware, the Yoga Chromebook is packing an 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor with four cores and eight threads. It's paired with 8GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage and up to a 4k display resolution on an IPS display, which is pretty squarely in line with some of the company's own nicer Windows laptops.
It's not skimping on traditional Chromebook selling points, either. The 15.6-inch display is still a touchscreen and it runs full Chrome OS apps and software, and the hinge rotates 360 degrees for as close to a true tablet experience as you can get with a laptop. Ports include HDMI, SD card, one USB 3.1 and two USB C cables, plus a mythical headphone jack. The entire package comes in at 4.2 pounds.
But perhaps best of all, the Yoga Chromebook isn't some clunky looking piece of plastic. It looks like a high-end Lenovo laptop with an aluminum design and small bezels, and the whole thing costs just $599 for the base model. This won't break the dam and push everyone into Chromebooks away from MacBooks and Windows laptops, but if I feel like Microsoft should be a little concerned about how well this performs.
