Not all of the Galaxy S10 models will have an in-display fingerprint sensor

Recently we heard that there might be three models of the tentatively titled Galaxy S10 next year, but we weren’t crystal clear on the exact differences between all of the models. The models are codenamed Beyond 0, Beyond 1, and Beyond 2, and they’re likely to sport different camera systems, but that might not be the only difference.

A fingerprint scanner under the screen is long overdue for the Galaxy S10, but you might only be able to get that in Beyond 1 or Beyond 2. Beyond 0 will be the “entry-level” option in the family and will instead use a fingerprint scanner on the side of the phone, most likely in the power button like what Motorola is doing.

If you’re sketched out about these rumors, don’t worry, we are too. Three models was already weird enough, but now that it’s shaping up that the lowest tier phone here won’t have nearly as many of the features as the bigger Galaxy S10 phones makes me think that it may be something else entirely.

We’ll know in a few months, and the Galaxy Note 9 is likely to shed some light on Samsung’s direction, but seriously, take these rumors with a handful of salt.
