It's long been rumored that Samsung is developing a smart speaker powered by the company's virtual assistant, Bixby. It won't surprise you to find out that Samsung is still working on such a device that could come complete with a camera, display, and a rotating microphone if the latest report holds firm.

As you can see from the design illustrated in the image above from LetsGoDigital, Samsung's smart speaker has seven microphones and will rotate to focus on the person speaking. According to the patent, the intelligent speaker could also have a small display and a camera. The screen could be to show information and answers to questions posed to Bixby, while the camera is likely for video chat. This is a different take on what Amazon and Google have produced so far, although the Echo Show has some similarities, and could be aimed more towards professionals and not the average consumer.

While the design looks like a viable option, this is where we hit the proverbial snag in that it will be powered by Bixby, which just hasn't achieved the same levels of sophistication or ability that Amazon's Alexa or the Google Assistant have. There's no telling when, or even if, Samsung is planning on launching this smart speaker though, so perhaps there is still time for Bixby to improve. Is there space for a third virtual assistant in the world though? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
