It's apparently ROM week for Android devices, as we've reported on the HTC Evo Shift 4G, CyanogenMod 7 RC2, the Sprint Epic 4G, and now the T-Mobile G2 getting some lovings from HTC Sense ROM which is running Android 2.3!  This ROM is called GingerSense and built by TeamVillian, the same team that brought the first G2 Gingerbread goodness with ‘GingerVillian'.

Even though you may be tempted to grab this right away, be warned, as there are still some issues that need to be worked out. The issues are as follows;

  • Camcorder hangs when pressing record
  • Bluetooth does not work
  • HTC Hub fails to log in
  • The “card” mail widget does not work
  • Landscape mode in Sense is bugged (thanks to HTC for this), I would advice against using this too often
  • Question mark doesn’t work on hardware keyboard

So, if you're feeling adventurous, give it a shot by heading over to VillianROM and let us know how it goes, otherwise, may be good to just wait it out a few days and see if they get some of the issues above tackled before you flash.

  1. I gotta agree… While Sense is the best theme (over motoblur, touchwiz etc) I still prefer stock with Launcher Pro Plus.

    I’m sticking to CM 6.1.1 until CM7 is more stable.. I honestly don’t even see any major reason to mess with Gingerbread. CM 6.1 is damn good. Fast and stable. I wish all Android phones used stock Android. The skins are useless!
