Pixel phones hit with a texting bug as Google works on a fix 3
Following the texting bug that hit Samsung Galaxy S8 phones a week ago, many Pixel phones are unable to receive text messages after the official Android 8.0 Oreo update. Outgoing texts seem unaffected, but incoming messages just aren't happening. Google is aware of the issue and actively working on a solution.

The first sign of a problem came from a thread on the official support forum in late September from a user who couldn't receive texts from either Verizon's or Google's messaging app. None of the standard troubleshooting steps got them working. A sizable number of users have launched similar complaints since the post. Reboots and even factory resets often helped, at least temporarily, but the bug has persisted and Google needs to push an official software fix.

After a deluge of comments on the issue, Orrin (a Community Manager on the forums) wrote, “Thanks for all of the reports. The team is aware of this issue and working towards a fix. Some of you have mentioned that rebooting or factory resetting the device resolved the issue. Definitely try to reboot, and if you do factory reset, make sure all of your data/info is backed up.”

Many of the complaints included the fact that they were using Verizon, but it's unclear if only Verizon users have been affected. Hopefully a permanent solution from Google is pushed out soon.
