The Galaxy S8 and S8+ have had a relatively scandal-free life so far, and while that sounds like a dig at the Galaxy Note 7, most phones usually have some kind of issue, however small. And unfortunately for Samsung, the Galaxy S8's tiny issue is here.

Tons of users have been reporting missing text messages on their Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, and it seems to affect users on all major carriers. One of our own writers at Talk Android has also been experiencing the issue, and there are Reddit posts filled with complaining users, so it's not an isolated incident.

The problem doesn't only impact the default messaging app on the phone, so third-party apps and services are still affected. There are tons of potential solutions to the problem, like turning WiFi and advanced messaging off, but they're not solving the problem for everyone.

The issue is gaining traction because of how many users are experiencing the problem, but Samsung has been mum so far. It is a relatively small problem, to be fair, but it's a definite annoyance to anyone that's dealing with it. Fingers crossed Samsung is silently working on patching it behind the scenes.

Maybe it'll speed up Android Oreo for the device. Silver lining, right?

  1. I FIXED THE ISSUE FOR MYSELF!!! I have the Samsung S8+ on Sprint. I use Google’s Android Messages for my default texting app. The other day, Device Maintenance bugged me to put apps to sleep that were draining battery life. I complied and let it do it’s thing. Mean while that’s the moment the issue started. I checked the list of sleeping apps afterwards and noticed Android Messages was on that list. I removed the app from sleep and BAM back to normal. You may want to add your default texting app to the “unmonitored apps” section to prevent this from happening. Try this fix and see if it works for you.

  2. Ive had this issue with my s7 edge for a while either not getting the messages or no notification. Typical samsung told me it was my carrier not the phone.
