If you've ever wanted to see what it's like to host your own radio station on your phone, the brand new app Anchor can give you a taste of what that's like. The first public release is officially available on Google Play and allows you to create your own radio stations and clips with others around the world.
The premise is pretty simple: you record short audio clips of whatever you want, then other people listen to it and can reply with their own short clips. These clips are stitched together creating a longer “radio show” that anyone can go back and listen to. Neat, right?
If you use it for conversations, this actually sounds like it'll just end up being a podcast creator with strangers on the internet, but that's not a bad thing. You can search for specific topics to talk about or listen to, like comedy, sports, or television shows, and then save your conversations and either send them to other sites and services, or even embed them on your own site or blog.
