  1. Please do not post non-Android related “deals of the day” articles at this Android news site. They are not relevant to Android. Please post deals that ARE relevant to Android.

Also, as my original post was removed regarding this issue, I have now bookmarked this page. Future removals of this message will result in similar ones being posted, as this message does not break any rules of this site or Disqus. This could also lead to action being taken, such as an official complaint about you to the editor and/or Disqus.

    1. We will continue to post offers from Talk Android Deals at our own discretion. You’re obviously not the one to decide whether or not something is relevant to our readers. The products from Talk Android Deals have a wide scope. In this case, we are offering an affordable (or “beginner”) drone. This isn’t a $1,000 drone that we’re throwing into here randomly.

And, to be completely honest with you, many of our readers have picked up the Snowflake Stealth Drone. You just happen to not find it interesting for yourself.

Your comments will continue to be deleted when they are not pertaining to the topic or take unwarranted shots at anyone or the site in general. We promote healthy conversation, even criticism. If you’d like to point out an error in the post, go right ahead. But continuing to pick at things that aren’t even relating to the post (which I’ve had to delete in the past) isn’t something we’ll accept. I think you have better things to do with your time than that.

Feel free to contact me directly by email.

            1. You got it! Sorry you missed, though.

We’ll redeem ourselves with an even better offer in the future. haha

      1. The original point was neither a personal attack to anyone at the site, and was completely relevant.

If you have deleted any of my posts here, then you had no basis to, as again, they were related to the article or android and did not break any rules. No other Android based sites have, both with my own posts, or others, which could be a reason that those sites have a large amount of posts and engagement, but this site does not seem to. It’s practically a ghost town.

Just because “people have bought the drone” does not mean that they are necessarily regular readers to this site. The post itself can easily be found via Google search. Thus, your statement cannot justify that regular readers are interested in this.

Thank you for the dialogue, but I will continue to point out your mistakes and errors and tell you what you are doing wrong at this site. Non-relevant articles about non-android/smartphone related news is definitely one of them.

        1. Simply put: we will survive with or without your comments. Continue to post off-topic comments and I will continue to delete them.

Regarding our readers… I think being the Editor In Chief of the site gives me a better idea of what they are/aren’t interested in. The sales from this deal and others clearly shows that our readers are approving of them. Sorry if you think otherwise.

          1. Except that your site seems to have little or no comments, whereas most of the other android sites, which does have more comments, seem to concentrate on news articles that actually relate directly to android. They also host far more discussion and critiques of their respected sites, which in turn elicits responses from others.

I like I’ve said, in sure you’ve made lots of money from clicks and sales of these products, but how certain are you that these are from actual, regular readers? Where is your site data that correlates the two? So far, all I have seen is one reader’s comments that thinks they are good in one article, and my own in several other related articles, calling this practice out.

My opinion is that the low engagement with this site by posters is partially due to spam such as these unfiltered sponsored posts, and the possibly heavy-handed approach to censorship.

Perhaps a great deal of other people have better things to do than comment at this site for those reasons?

I actually enjoy most of the articles here. I have come here because technically, your site hasn’t become a fully “Facebook”style site, where getting to news articles is a chore (yet). The design doesn’t crash my browser and the main page is functional, with adverts placed without hindering the loading speed or interfering with reading.

However, the sponsored ads, especially ones not relevant to ” talking about android ” seems at odds with the purpose of the site. Allowing users to filter or block these would go some way to improving the user experience, while not deleting criticism of the site will, if you are correct, will only show posters such as myself up as “trolls” or suchlike. It might even invite more readers to engage with the story and/or disagree with my own comments, which is a good thing, surely?

        2. Furthermore, how is arbitrary deletions of posts a healthy response?

It removes whatever little interest has been shown in said article (many, if not most articles here have no comments) and the “offending party” has no way to know what it is that they have done “wrong”. Unless the poster has made something akin to hate speech, or made extremely upsetting comments, then they should be left where they are, warts and all.

What also would be helpful s a way to filter out spam/sponsored posts/advert articles like this one. Other sites allow for just “news” to be selected (and bookmarked”), whereas your site’s options gives only the option for ONE type of news (“phones”, “tablets”, etc).

Perhaps a more robust options setting would allow writers to post non-android related posts at this android news site in peace, while leaving those who wish to read actual Android-related news and actually “talk android” to do so without ever reading such articles? Simply give us the option for an “all android news” option, and then “sponsored content” can be free to be in the “front page” (or splash page, or whatever you wish to call the regular homepage).

Also, like you’ve done here, please have a dialogue with your readers. Reply to posts, and give them warnings get THEM to justify THEIR comments. Barring auto-spam, the writers will never know that they’ve been deleted and will carry on into new posts ignorantly, causing more “need” to remove posts on your end. It also shows that SOME dialogue is happening regarding an article, rather than no comments whatsoever.

These ideas are not my own. They are standard practice on most sites, as they offer readers options to filter content, show that the site is actually being read and engaged with (however contradictory that is to the writer/s) and allows the site to reply to those who have problems with the site (setting up a dialogue just like you have done here).

  2. PLEASE stop wasting our time with non-Android “Deals of the Day”. If it’s not relevant to Android, then it’s not relevant to this site.
