Chase Support today on Twitter revealed that the financial institute won't be supporting Android Pay until sometime in 2016. This comes after the bank was found to be working on its own mobile payments application called Chase Pay.

A post on Reddit revealed that Chase customers would be getting support for Android Pay by the end of 2015, but now this tweet from Chase Support has confirmed otherwise.

Android Police contacted Chase over the vague timelines and received this response:

In other words, Chase customers aren't going to be seeing any sign of Android Pay until sometime in 2016, that is unless Chase finds a way to impose more delays. In the meantime, consumers will have to search for other credit/debit card options that are compatible with Android Pay.

  1. I have Chase Visa on Android Pay, and have had it for years (when it was Google Wallet).

My comment was calling the details of the article into question.

Samsung Pay does not yet support Chase. I suspect that the person quoted, or the author may have incorrectly referenced Android Pay.

    1. I also had my Chase card in Google Wallet which transferred with no issues into Android Pay but my new card doesn’t work because the Bank is not supported. Not sure how your new chip card worked but glad it did. Google’s website also doesn’t list Chase as a supported bank and the last customer service agent I spoke to was pretty clueless about it.

Chase is introducing a QR code based Wallet like CurrentC and they don’t want us to get used to the convenience of NFC before giving their crappy app a try first. This is why retailers like Walgreen’s and Home Depot disabled NFC even though I was already using Google Wallet there before. As soon as Apple pay was announced banks and retailers decided they need to force consumers into their app before Apple grabbed the whole market.
I am really hoping QR doesn’t go anywhere and finally embrace NFC …….. after all these years. First it was the hardware. Now most Verifone terminals have the hardware but merchants either disable it on purpose or Banks don’t play along. Such a shame….

  2. Um – I have Chase Visa already in Android Pay, and have had it for over two years – do you mean that Chase will not support Samsung Pay until 2016?

    1. Hahah i hate when see stuff like this especially when some stores advertise it for Android pay when damn near all alstores take it like Walmart

    2. They used to work (I had my old debit card on there, they used a virtual MasterCard through Bancorp) but if you have to change your card info for any reason (they just sent me a new chip card with a different number), the new one won’t work

      1. I was unaware they had changed things. I added my new chipped card, but admit I haven’t tried it since, because it hasn’t failed in the past.

      2. Android pay doesn’t accept chase cards per the article. However, if you had chase cards in your Google wallet app before android pay rolled out, they would’ve “transfered over” your chase cards to android pay. Hence, why some of you can use chase cards via android pay. This is a one time exception. So if you try to add a new a different chase card it won’t work…until chase officially adds it.
