The LG G4 is all set to break cover sometime in mid 2015. A new report now suggests that the Korean manufacturer might have made the last minute decision to use a fingerprint scanner on the flagship, considering what we've seen from the likes of Samsung and Apple in the industry so far.

It is said that the company originally didn't want to have a fingerprint scanner due to lack of proper technology. And even if there was something worth considering out there, Apple had exclusive right over it. Reports claim that LG was initially interested in launching the LG G3 with the said fingerprint scanner, but that plan didn't come to fruition.

We'll be curious to see how the manufacturer implements this feature with its new flagship. Given its unique rear facing action keys, it is possible that the sensor will be implemented there. This is similar to what HTC did with the One Max phablet back in 2013.

LG has already mentioned that the G4 handset will be radically different from anything we've seen from the company so far, so the use of the fingerprint scanner could be one of those distinguishing features.

  1. Personally I hope they do it right and not add extra buttons to the device just for the fingerprint scanner. i personally still wouldn’t use it though.
