With all the excitement of Android Wear 2.0 and the debut of the Moto 360, it may be hard to pay attention to anything else, but we have some sad news for you. If you were hoping for an HTC One-styled Android Wear device you're out of luck. A source close to the matter, at least according to Pocket-lint, has stated that the Taiwanese company is abandoning its Android Wear project. Although, he has no confirmation of why said decision was made.
It was believed that the HTC watch would be a reworked Qualcomm Toq and while it was released earlier in the year so developers could play with it, it hasn't met expectations. Of course, Android Wear has basically stopped momentum of any other smartwatches, short of the iWatch, and HTC would face an uphill battle with LG, Motorola, Asus, and Sony having already released other devices.
Given HTC's financial track record, the company may be attempting to play it safe. If this rumor is true, it's certainly a sad bit of news. Only time will tell if this pans out.
