Is anybody totally convinced that “Flash is bad” for an iPhone? It installs and runs fine on everything else doesn't it? Don't give me the security thing…cause that's a stretch! Seriously, I ask any iPhone fanboys to give us a solid argument as to why Apple is fighting not to include Flash capabilities in the iPhone.
We may as start with the conspiracy theories here, cause that's all we're left with in the end.
Are any of these possible reasons from Apple?
- Apple doesn't like flashy things like apps that may be found sexy, joke apps that may have “adult themed” content, or programs that make their software look better.
- Adobe has made numerous attempts to take Apple over, but Jobs won't sign, causing a “bad breakup” effect between the 2 companies.
- ‘Flash is the Devil‘
- Flash was designed to alter our reality to the point civilization no longer grips what is correct and real, leaving iPhone/iPad users the only people left who can distinguish reality through front-facing cameras.
- ‘Flash is the Devil‘….wait, sorry, that was already conceived.
- Apple is launching a gaming site of their own, which will use an early form of quicktime to render pages, and promises it won't crash your browser….unless you use Safari.
- Apple just wants to be different and doesn't actually care what its users want. (enter memories of how long it took them to put copy/paste functionality into iOS, and fanboys literally drooled over it like starving puppies)

As you can tell, there's no real good reason for the decision to wage war with Adobe on whether to include Flash other than to somehow benefit Apple, and not it's customers.
That being said, I'm an open minded person and would encourage any LOGICAL reasoning to present itself, there's a handy comment section below to do just that.

I'm so glad Android has Flash…aren't you?
@ChumbleSpuzz
I vist the YouTube site all the time, in HTML5 mode in Chrome.
I have the latest YouTube App on my Nexus – it doesn’t require Flash to work. I don’t have Flash installed!
I don’t mind Flash on my MacBook Pro… in fact my web experience is enhanced by it. Saying that, I use Chrome and HTML 5 is the way forward (I expect).
I’m talking about Flash on my mobile device. On my 3.7′ screen you can’t honestly expect the ‘Full Web’ we hear so much about. So what if some adds don’t run on a site on my phone….
So back to my original point… what’s the point in flash on a small mobile device?
I just haven’t seen an example of how it makes my phone better.
As a Linux user I hate Flash – it’s unsecure, slow piece of s**t.
@ChumbleSpuzz
Youtube can use HTML5 (enable it at https://www.youtube.com/supported_browsers ). But you’re right – we still need Flash because of badly designed web sites with Flash based menu (and for streaming on other sites) ;-) (I know when it’s Flash, I’m a Flashblock user).
@ Iain:
So, you never visit YouTube or any other video streaming sites? Better not dl YouTube’s new app then (awesome BTW).
Ever play any flash based games? Sounds like you probably don’t, but may other people do.
Many sites I visit do not have a mobile version and implement flash in their navigation. Without Flash, navigation is impossible on these sites (online menus for restaurants in my area are a prime example).
You say you never need Flash, but it is more likely the use of Flash is so transparent, you don’t know you’re using it. If it were missing from your phone, you’d probably notice it was missing. Install flashblocker on Firefox on your PC and browse around. You’d be amazed.
Just to be clear from the off set, I’m a 100% Android Geek and I have a Nexus One with FroYo.
Someone please tell me WHY I need Flash? I’ve not installed it for one reason only…. I want to see what it’s used for.
Since it’s release, I’ve never been to a website on my phone then NEEDED Flash to give me what I wanted. I don’t a have a single App that “Requires Flash” for me to use it.
Maybe I’m missing something, but the “We hate Apple and therefore love Flash on our Android camp” is just as annoying as “We love Apple and if they don’t use it everyone else is wrong camp”
I just haven’t seen an example of how it makes my phone better.
And seriously dude, what’s with calling it an “iPhone 4g”? It’s just embarrassing to see and it makes look like you have no idea what you’re talking about….
Its because steve jobs is the cult’s leader and if he says flash is from the devil, then flash is from the devil
Common Scuttlebutt around Silly-Con-Valley is that Jobs would lose control, if he allowed flash content, as anyone could add flash to augment existing content or just freely run and share it without being controlled.
Apple might become open source … Steve Jobs is afraid!
It’s simple. Flash gives users access to not only network websites w/ free episodes of their shows, but also to pirate websites that host links to these same shows and movies. This means, Apple, w/ flash would likely loose a huge chunck of revenue on Movies and Shows, one of their higher sources of revenue.
Then they will soon switch back to lynx for web browsing, because HTML5 and its canvas can be used to create apps too, not with all the bells and whistles of flash yet but we are getting there.
Apple wants to control what apps are published on their system, and they want a cut of the profit.
Flash would allow for people to create their own platform on top of the iPhone to buy/sell applications outside of Apples control.
I guess they see it as developers going into Wall-mart and selling goods to customers inside the store without giving Wall-mart a cut.
If you develop an application for iPhone it’s an Apple product.
In my opinion not including flash is not to enhance the user experience, it’s to shape it and profit from it.
The reason that Apple wont allow flash is for the fact they will lose money. The developers will lose money and nobody likes that. Google did it right I had an iPhone 3g was gonna update to the IPhone 4g but I fell in love with the Samsung Captivate
