AT&T has wasted no time in working on fulfilling their promise to add 50 new markets to their 4G LTE footprint before the end of 2013 with the announcements of 12 new markets added. Interestingly, only a small handful of the recently added areas were included in AT&T's announcement last week. The locations just announced by AT&T include:

  • Tupelo, MS
  • Tyler, TX
  • Marshall, TX
  • Stevens Point, WI
  • Whitewater-Lake Geneva, WI
  • Springfield, OH
  • Moultrie, GA
  • Tifton, GA
  • Champaign-Urbana, IL
  • Mayfield, KY
  • Paducah, KY
  • Corning, NY

If you are in those areas and have a 4G enabled AT&T smartphone, enjoy uploading photos from your upcoming Labor Day weekend using the new 4G LTE network.

  1. The previous announcement listed Elmira, NY, which is about 15 miles from Corning. It’s possible that they are doing that whole area and chose to call it “Corning” today instead of “Elmira”.

I’m in Ithaca (about 30 miles north of Elmira), and I noticed (briefly) and LTE indicator on my phone a few days ago. Perhaps we’ll be in this new area as well.
