One can argue whether Google Glass will be the next big thing or not, but for it to succeed, Google will need to provide a prescription version. There are many people who didn't opt into the Explorer program because there currently is no way to fit a prescription lens. If you currently wear glasses, have no fear because Google was just awarded a patent for a “Wearable device assembly with input and output structures.” It will have an attachable heads up display (HUD) by way of magnets and “In general, frame 712 can be similar to a frame associated with prescription glasses or sunglasses.” I can only assume that this will become available at the same time as the consumer launch. Let's hope.
