Android most popular US mobile OS

The Nielsen Company has released data that shows Android OS is the operating system of choice on handhelds for consumers who bought a new smartphone over the last 6 months. Followed by Blackberry RIM and iPhone OS who seem to hold the same percentage of market share for devices purchased in the same time frame.

The following data below shows the market share for existing smartphone owners, which highlights Blackberry RIM as the current king of the hill, followed by iPhone OS, and a steadily climbing Android OS.

This is exciting news for Android owners, because features and development for Android will see drastic increases.

Looking at the data charts, you can see Android OS gaining fast on its competitors, which means we'll see the 2 data streams merge making Android the most used and most popular OS in the mobile market!
