Tegra 3 powered HTC One X takes on its Snapdragon S4 cousin in a benchmark showdown 5

There's a lot of debate in the Android community about which processor is currently the reigning champion inside the new HTC One X. Many One X users in Europe will enjoy the quad-core Tegra 3 processor while others, like us North Americans, will get the Snapdragon S4 dual-core flavor. Below is a video of the two titans going for the gold on the AnTuTu benchmark test. As you can see, the Tegra 3 variant (on the left) seems to leave the S4 in the dust. Now keep in mind that this is just one benchmark test and that there are numerous reports of both processors coming out as the victor over the other. No matter which benchmark you use, it's safe to say that both these processors are extremely powerful and will get the job done, no matter where you are located. Let us know what you think of the video in the comments below.

  1. @brennanyama – Good points!  Thanks for mentioning them, as I wouldn’t have noticed.  Maybe because I was rooting for the Tegra 3 though! ;-)

  2. I really dont want to sound like a fanboy here, because I’m impartial to either side in this debate, but the S4 variant was started like 2 seconds after the phone finished booting and upgraded, obviously a bunch of crap is still going to be floating around in the background (especially by the looks of all the crapware AT&T threw onto the phone, so of course it’s not going to perform as well. The tegra 3 version had at least a good 20 seconds to settle before running the bench, and didn’t just complete an upgrade literally seconds before running it’s test… you have to suspect something is fishy when almost every single other multi thread bench marked the S4 as performing significantly beter.

Part of the reasons people say benchmarks can’t be trusted is because we have people like these guys completely screwing the benchmarks when running them. The S4 version was even in airplane mode while the other wasn’t…WTF? THIS is how the android community gets misinformation, and I’m sure I’ll be seeing more than a couple people reference to this flawed video… cmon people….

  3. there seems to be a difference in the way the 2 render the menu at the bottom. hope HTC can sort the menu key
